I like it. being colorless has to have some drawback, and it has the eventuality that all the clockwork constructs had (except the ones that self repaired). If you wanted to have the same effect, although slightly more clockworky, you could have it be a 0/0, with a +1/+1 counter, and remove the counter at the end of combat, then if it's upgraded it will still wear down, but just slower, and has the same equipment abuse that other clockworks have, and it will still be worse than typhoid rats :P
Although the +1/+1 counter schtick is the usual for Clockwork "tribe", I wanted to make this guy a little simpler. It does basically the same thing, but with less lines of text. Nice catch, though!
When I initially read the card name (before looking at any costs or stats), I was thinking something like clockwork hydra with deathtouch in place of self repair, and then figured something like that would cost like 7 or 8 mana, but would be awesome :P
