Card of the Day - Prison of Despair

This was a card I designed from the art.  I liked this piece so much, I had to do a card about it.

Card of the Day - Homeland Pride

Trying out some undying shenanigans.

Card of the Day - Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith

Here's my take.

I want to thank everyone who participated in this week's art design challenge.  There were a lot of fun entries and I'll be doing a Design from Art challenge every Saturday starting next week!  In the meantime, I'll be posting a new card every day.  Keep checking back and keep contributing!  The only way we can get better at what we're doing is by listening to feedback.

Art #5 - Friday

May the 4th be with you.

Let's make a Darth Vader card. The rules are here.

Card of the Day - Epic Battle

This is a cool way for green to get removal.  I like that this is limited in the fact that there have to be two big creatures on the battlefield.  It works much better if opponents control all the big creatures.

Art #4 - Thursday

If you're not sure what this is about, the rules are here.

Card Design Show-off Art #3

I'm so glad that so many of you participated in the design challenge!  This post is to show off all your hard work!  The art we used was this:

Now here are all of the submissions that I received:

First, we have the entry by onlyobsessed.  She's new to the game and doesn't understand exact wordings, so I helped her out with that.  Overall, a cool card with a unique drawback that could see play in many a Commander deck.  Great job!

The second entry was from Brendan W.  This is a very powerful token producer!  The wording is a bit off, but we all know what it's supposed to say.  The three mana version of this is in AVR, and it's good!

This entry is from @wobbles on twitter.  I like this a lot!  It seems like it's highly costed, but it's actually very well balanced.  I'm just not sure if it needs to exile itself.

Pasteur's entry is the most unique in that it uses a part of the original art that is not in the foreground.  The design of this card forces opponents to play lands after combat, which could be detrimental to their strategy.

Last but not least, we have Chimzar's entry.  This one has a Karn, Liberated feel to it, but more symmetrical in that all players get to keep one card from the previous game.  I like it! You can check out more of his designs at Bob's Cards.

I'll put mine up too.  Explantion is here.

Thanks again for playing!  I love how we can all come up with vastly different cards based on one piece of art.

If any of you want to join the site and post your own content, let me know!  I'd like to work with some other amateur designers and see what we can come up with together.

Card of the Day - Imperfect Portal

I thought it would be fun to make a card that feels like a gamble.  This card will be hated by many as it allows players to make very bad combat decisions that might pay off.

Art #3 - Wednesday

Here's Wednesday's art!  Have fun designing. The rules are here.

Card of the Day - Lycanthropic Necromancer

This is amazing art that really should only be on a Mythic Rare.  He's obviously a necromancer werewolf, but notice the type line.  I made him a Wolf to mirror the Wolfir because he doesn't transform.  He's just always awesome.

I wanted him to be used to exploit "enter the battlefield" effects.  I think he'll do a good job of it.

Art #2 - Tuesday

Badass wolf guy and some skeletons.  Let's see what you come up with. The rules are here

Here's the best of yesterday.  Thanks to Chimzar from Bob's Cards for the submission!

Card of the Day - Peacock Knight

My design for this is from my Design from Art game.  I chose to make this fellow a knight, and give him protection from something.  I originally was going to let the caster choose two colors, but I thought a color and a creature type seemed more fun.
