#MTGMoxtober Day 5: Nightmare

I was imagining what a Tamed Nightmare might look like, and I came up with this:

I like all those griffins and pegasi that grant flying when they attack, and I wanted to expand on that a bit.  I upped the p/t and added lifelink to the mix to make it more interesting.

#MTGMoxtober Day 1: Rebirth

Let's start with a curse!  I wanted to make a "resurrect a player" card.  I like that you can cast this on yourself and just get a second chance, or cast it on someone about to die to gain control of that player forever.

Card of the Day - Exchange Favors

So Hollee said to me tonight, "Are there any bargain cards? Like a card that can let you trade a card in your hand with a card in an opponent's hand?"

I thought for a minute and couldn't think of one, so I made it.

I had to rejigger the wording to make it mutual exile instead of just trading cards in hands, but if it makes you feel better, you can put that card in your hand if you like.  I give you my permission.

Card of the Day - Pontiff's Edict

It took me a while to decide the colors for this card, but in the end I'm certain black/white is the way to go.  After the colors were decided, I infused a bit of flavor to make it fit.  Let me know if you think it should be recosted, and what you put as its mana cost.

EDIT:  I forgot about Crack the Earth.  It doesn't feel red to be able to destroy enchantments, though.  I have altered the card slightly to make it feel much better for you, and worse for every other player.

A small change makes this card much better. (Also notice the new flavor text.)

Card of the Day - Souls of the Lost

If you don't recognize this card, it's Requiem Angel without the body.  I think it would have seen print as an Orzhov card if the Angel wasn't just printed.

Card of the Day - Orzhov Intellectual

Here's an example of a common creature with Outsmart.  The power/toughness on the lower rarites should be low.

Card of the Day - Orzhov Influence

Now that I know the guild mechanics in Gatecrash, I'm going to be designing cards using those mechanics.  Here's the simplest possible version of Extort.  Powerful in multiples, even though it does nothing by itself.  This is my favorite mechanic of the set, and I think I'll be playing it for a long time.

Card of the Day - Gold Counter

Sometimes great ideas need to be expanded upon.  This idea was used by Devon Rule in the GDS2, and then reexamined in HavelockV's challenge.  Since we're going back to Ravnica, I'd like to expand on Jay Treat's entry into the challenge.  This week's cards are all Orzhov cards based around the idea of gold counters. Enjoy!
