Card of the Day - Tenets of Peace

This card is basically a Cruel Edict plus a Fog.  It forces the opponent to attack with only one creature and stop combat for a turn.  The downside is that if this card is out, you aren't able to attack either.  It creates tension in the game, which is a good thing.

Card of the Day - Lavaspew Kavu

This is a nice card for Johnny to build around.  There was a whole set based around returning your creatures to your hand.  This is also randomly awesome against blue.

Card of the Day - Toll of Battle

Today's card is an upgrade to an existing card, Heat of Battle. (See also: Battle Strain.)  I made the card without remembering if there was a card that did the same thing.  I named it after checking, as an homage.

Card of the Day - Embue Life

There is exactly one white rare sorcery that only costs W.  I asked Hollee to choose a picture from the internet for me to make into a second one.  This is what happened.

Edit:  I misspelled something! That's what happens when you get old. Thanks to Inanimate (and Hollee) for pointing it out to me.

Card of the Day - Pain's Promise

The next in a long line of Phyrexian Arena variants.  This one's cool because you can draw more than one extra card each turn, but the cost can be excruciating.

Card of the Day - Frozen Specter/Diabolic Specter

The first iteration of this card is pretty good.  After I made it, though, I realized that I was forcing it to be a snow creature when it didn't need to be.  I promptly renamed it, changed the mana requirements, and removed the snow supertype.  Here's the finished version.

Card of the Day - Discpile of Gargut

This was my entry into Goblin Artisans weekend design challenge.  It had to be a common black creature with two abilites.  It works better in the context of the whole set.

Card of the Day - Brenish Hunter

This is a staple G/W common that would need to exist in a world where snow is a big deal. I like the way that hybrid and snow work together to make a pseudo-sixth color feasible in limited environments.  Also, I just found an awesome snow watermark that could go on every snow card.  I think it looks cool.

Card of the Day - Phantom Army

This is a bit complicated.  It's more complicated than most cards I make, but I wanted it to have a certain feel.  This card is grokkable once you understand what's going on.

Your opponent has a creature, and suddenly there are three of that creature!  Which one should you block?  If you wanted to make a creature unblockable, there are easier ways. It seems like so much fun to play this little minigame.  I'm going to be using this one in playtesting for sure.
