Card of the Day - Senate Speechwriter

I really like this one.  It shows how blue and white can do do similar things that are exactly opposite.

Card of the Day - Final Standoff

Actual card posted.  Thanks to Bradley Rose for the correct text.

As always, comments are appreciated.

The Best of Dragon's Maze, Part 1

Since the spoilers are out and the prerelease is coming up quickly, I'd like to go over some of my favorite cards in Dragon's Maze.

This one is a doozy.  5/5 for 4 mana is always awesome.  PLUS it has trample AND it's an instant.  Really powerful, and something Selesnya needed to give it a bit of a push.

This card, while not being super powerful, seems like it will be a hit at the casual tables for quite some time.  I love the fact that it mills you for ten right off the bat to give you something to grab if the game is still in the early stages.

Remember Pernicious Deed?  This is the sorcery speed version that also kills Planeswalkers. Guaran-damn-teed too kill everything you want dead, or your money back.

Six mana might seem like a lot for this ability, but I assure you it's well worth it.  I can see this going well in a Naya build or Boros Enchantments with Assemble the Legion.

I love mashups!  Gruul War Chant is what you get when add Goblin War Drums to Orcish Oriflamme and then throw some green mana on it.  I didn't realize it was an enchantment until I cast it in the MTGO beta!  (My MTGO username is MadOlaf, if you want to play a game or ten.)

It's a g-g-g-ghost!  He spooks out your opponent's creatures so much they lose some of their oomph.  Really helps when there are a ton of dudes on the other side of the table, and his own stats are nothing to sneeze at.

I'll do another one of these later.  Let me know your favorite cards in the comments!

Card of the Day - Essence Web

I'm pretty sure that no other card triggers on another card's exile. I think white and green might benefit from exiling of permanents. Any thoughts?

Card of the Day - Twice As Big

This one seems very Green to me, even more so than the original Giant Growth.  Is it because it makes your big creatures REALLY BIG!?  Yeah, it's probably that.

Card of the Day - Unquestioned Bargain

I got black enchantments on the brain, it seems.  Here's one that rewards you upfront, but takes a big payment later on.

Card of the Day - Unfamiliar Terrain

A twist on the regular "search for a land" cards.  This one only gets you one you haven't seen yet.  Useful if you're splashing for a second or third color.

Card of the Day - Durzan Factory

It's the part of Verdant Force where he makes little guys every turn. Remember, it's every turn; not just yours.  Also works well with my card from Wednesday.

Card of the Day - Quest for Glory

Another quest.  I thought the rare quests could keep getting bigger, while the lower rarites go away after completion.

Card of the Day - Warlord's Revenge

New card type.  The plan with quests is to make them trigger when something specific happens.

Card of the Day - Lingering Horror

My actual submission for YMTC was not nearly as good as this one.  It's too bad I thought of it a day late.

Card of the Day - Clearcut

Edit:  Here's a fix so shroud and hexproof don't have to be mentioned at the same time.

This version feels quite a bit different than the original.  It has other effects, as well.  You can target a creature with protection with Clearcut out. So that's neat.

Card of the Day - Assembly Line

The thing I find most interesting about this land is that even though it does it inadvertently, it still taps for mana; thereby following the rules of modern Land design.

Card of the Day - Mystical Tampering

Today's card is an interesting one.  This effect can be a little useful in a lot of cases, and a lot useful in a few cases.  Imagine getting to cast this on a Time Stretch.  Value!

Card of the Day - Illysa's Rod

This is kind of like Feldon's Cane, but slower.  Too much shuffling, you say?  Try this version instead:

Card of the Day - Carrier Vermin

Solid black common.  This guy can get in early to do some damage, or come out late to take care of a threat.

Card of the Day - Mass Evolution

This card is definitely Simic, even though it's mono-green.  I'm surprised this hasn't been printed before.

Card of the Day - Captured Vorox

This guy is very Gruul.  Even his implementation of Grandeur feels like a weird variation of Bloodrush.

Card of the Day - Psychic Link

In the never-ending quest to make auras playable there have been a few home runs.  Rancor is one of them.  Psychic Link has some similarities to Rancor and its ilk.

Card of the Day - Ioun Stone: Dusty Rose

If you're not familiar with Ioun stones, they are a magical item in Dungeons and Dragons.  They are tiny magical stones that float around your head and give you a small boost in some way.

This guy likes them.

Card of the Day - Fred Krueger, Dream Master

I've been listening to the album Half Measures by The Prize Fighter Inferno pretty much non-stop.  The first track on that record is called Elm Street Loverboy, and it's about this guy here. So I made him a card.

Card of the Day - Master Lecturomancer

It's a teacher!  He teaches everyone about magic.  Get it!?  OK, good.

Edit: OK! I fix! I gave him an extra point of toughness, too.

Card of the Day - Twinning

If you don't know already, Hollee is my special ladyfriend and it's her birthday today.   It's also her sister Amanda's birthday. They're both 24. That's almost a quarter century! This one's for the both of you.

Card of the Day - Phelddagrif Hatchling

I've decided to make the third true Phelddagrif. The two main differences are the fact that it has a hybrid mana cost of two instead of the traditional 1WUG cost as well as changing the abilities. I wanted this to be really usable in a group hug Commander deck.
