Card of the Day - Heart Tacks

Today's card is an homage to the Stuffy Doll and the cards he stars in, Black Vise and The Rack. The card would be more powerful if it worked on every opponent, but the originals only let you choose one, so that's what I went with.

Card of the Day - Stoag the Poet

I chose to use the pronoun "him" when this card refers to itself because the character depicted is male.  I have always been annoyed when a Legendary creature card refers to itself as "it."

A few examples: Arcanis the Omnipotent, Ashling the Pilgrim, and Autumn Willow, and that's just the As.

I've noticed that the flip planeswalkers follow this trend as well, and I wonder if that's just because they are important characters, or if it's something they will be using on legendary creatures going forward.

Guest Card of the Day - Saber Battle

This is Hollee.

I saw the new Star Wars tonight.

I don't know how to design cards.

Adam doesn't know I'm posting this.

All these facts are probably already quite clear from the above image.

Card of the Day - Infernal Spawning/Besman Horde/Spill From the Rift/Tibalt, Patron of Pain

Today's cards are a vertical cycle. A vertical cycle is a subset of cards that do similar things with bigger or more powerful effects at higher rarites. You can see some examples here. The common and uncommon parts of the cycle may seem familiar to you, as they are similar to Dragon Fodder and Hordeling Outburst. The second set in the Frostmere block is called Hellfire, and devils play a large part in the set, mainly using 1/1 Devil tokens.

The rare part of the cycle gives tokens, but also damages you each turn.  This may seem like a drawback, but trust me. In this set, you will wish there were more things that could let you damage yourself.

The Mythic entry to the cycle is a familiar face to some. All of his abilites revolve around Devils. You can pop him right away to get 5 1/1s with no questions asked, or, if you have some other Devils around, wait and see if you can do some other cool things.

I am developing Frostmere and Hellfire together, so they will play nicely with one another while being very separate entities.

Card of the Day - Eternal Spirit

I missed posting yesterday.

I found out that one of my friends from the place I call my second hometown passed away on Wednesday.

We worked together, we played magic and D and D together; we had good times.

I was his boss at the pawn shop where we both worked, and even though he did a lot things incorrectly, I knew his heart was in the right place and I could never quite bring myself to fire him.

Matthew was a great guy, and a good Magic player, and I will miss him.

Since I'm not at home right now, I can't make a rendering of today's card, but here it is:

Eternal Spirit 3WW
Creature - Spirit (R)
Flying
If ~ would leave the battlefield, you may put it into your hand instead.
2/2

Rest well, Matthew.

Card of the Day - Rhuja, the Silent Death

If you know me, you know I'm a big proponent of Tiny Leaders.  This guy makes math difficult for your opponent when you have enough mana to cast him.  He's also an awesome cat, if you're into that sort of thing.  He was made for the /r/custommagic challenge of making a good Cat commander.

Card of the Day - Arson

I'm really mad right now.  There was a Somali restaurant in town that was burned down last night. Some good folks put up a gofundme here. Please donate what you can to show your support.

Anyway, here's my card:

Card of the Day - Act of Compassion

Hello friends.

It's been over a month since I posted a card here, but I don't have a good reason for that. I'm going to attempt to post a card a day like I used to.

I hope you didn't miss me too much.

Today's card is a little strange, as it is a red card that doesn't let a creature attack.  Because red is all about emotions, I wanted to show a gentler side of the color, where it teaches a big scary monster how to love; at least for a little while.
